CORPUS Kids Academy – Stuttering
Sometimes words want to move forward, but they take a different path.
This edition of the CORPUS Kids Academy focuses on stuttering. Children discover and experience what stuttering feels like, which parts of the body are involved, and how other people's reactions can affect them. Will you stutter along with us on World Stuttering Day?
Program
What is stuttering?
What exactly is stuttering? And what can you do when someone stutters? Test your knowledge in the quiz and find out how much you already know about different ways of speaking.
Genes and Stuttering
Some traits are inherited through your genes. Genetic predisposition can also play a role in the development of stuttering. Ten facts are waiting for the right words. Can you complete the story?
Loss of Control
A spiral of nerves, a fixed path, and one task: try to reach the end without touching the spiral. Then the rules change. What happens when you momentarily lose control?
S-s-s-stuttering
Repeating a word, prolonging a sound, or getting stuck for a moment. Stuttering can sound different in various ways. Using different materials, you’ll try out three forms of stuttering and notice how different speech can be.
's "Escape Behavior" Tell a story, but be careful: there are some words you’re not allowed to use. How do you continue when the very word you need is off-limits? Find other words and see how avoiding certain words affects a conversation.
Muscles, muscles, and more muscles
Your mouth produces the words, but how many muscles are involved when you speak? Look at the coloring page and color only the muscles you think are involved in speaking.
