On Saturday, January 4, CORPUS organized another successful edition of the CORPUS Kids Academy. The event took place between 13:00 and 17:00 on the second floor of the interactive part of the experience. The theme of the event was the 'heart' and was organized in cooperation with Leiden University Medical Center and Willem-Alexander Children's Hospital.
CORPUS, the LUMC and the WAKZ joined forces and introduced children to the subject through four interactive activities. Thus, children gained basic knowledge about the twelve building blocks of the heart and could then broaden their knowledge through the workshops of pediatric cardiologist Dr. Arno Roest and cardiologist Prof. Dr. Douwe Atsma. They told more about what can go wrong with the heart and how to keep it as healthy as possible. This edition was again a great success. In the end, almost 500 children and adults learned more about this special organ!
About CORPUS Kids Academy
The CORPUS Kids Academy was founded in 2022 to reduce the gap between scientific research and society. Every month a new edition is organized for children between 8 and 12 years old. However, older and younger children are also welcome. The themes are linked to the pillars of CORPUS: healthy living, responsible eating and lots of exercise. A visit to the CORPUS Kids Academy can be combined with a visit to the "journey through the human body". Would you like to stay informed about all editions of the CORPUS Kids Academy?
